MOPRO+CO Kühllogistik GmbH relies on fully electric refrigerated box from Schmitz Cargobull

The Austrian transport company MOPRO+CO Kühllogistik specialises in food transport and logistics. With four locations in Styria, Vienna, Salzburg and Sattledt, it offers its customers a nationwide network for the transport of fresh and frozen products.

Sustainable transport solution

MOPRO+CO sees itself as a specialist for individual solutions and offers its customers a comprehensive network in the general cargo sector. This includes the temperature ranges dry assortment, fresh assortment and frozen assortment.

In addition to the on-time delivery of the goods, MOPRO+CO also organises the complete cycle with returned goods management and loading equipment management. Arrival and takeover confirmations of the goods are transmitted to the customers in real time by means of digitalised processes.

MOPRO+CO uses the latest technology in all areas of the company. State-of-the-art technology is also used when it comes to protecting the environment. In order to reduce its ecological footprint and minimise noise pollution, MOPRO+CO Kühllogistik GmbH has opted for the all-electric S.KOe COOL refrigerated box from Schmitz Cargobull, which is equipped with the innovative S.CUep85 battery-electric transport refrigeration machine.

The Austrian transport company took delivery of the all-electric S.KOe COOL refrigerated box in July 2023 and is now in a three-year test phase. The semitrailer is used exclusively for the food retailer, Lidl. From the central warehouse in Laakirchen in the district of Gmunden, the goods are transported to Salzburg, Tyrol and Upper Austria. Lidl provides the energy required for charging free of charge in all central warehouses.

MOPRO Managing Director Christoph Bichler is very satisfied with the all-electric refrigerated box from Schmitz Cargobull after just under two months of use: "The box semitrailer runs constantly and absolutely to our satisfaction," says Bichler. "Schmitz Cargobull is the only manufacturer that offers everything from a single source: Cooling, power unit, energy storage and body."

The S.KOe COOL is a semitrailer that uses a purely electric refrigeration unit with integrated power electronics, a high-voltage battery system and an axle generator, making it emission-free. The electrified vehicle is also extremely quiet and thus enables deliveries in urban areas in the early morning hours as well as in the late evening. The batteries on the landing gear replace the diesel tank, and also offer the option of installing an additional pallet box with space for 36 pallets. The payload of the all-electric refrigerated box with high-voltage battery and e-axle is roughly the same as that of a refrigerated trailer with a diesel unit. The additional weight of the battery in the all-electric refrigerated trailer is almost completely compensated for by the elimination of the generator.

The electrified Schmitz Cargobull trailer axle recuperates energy during braking, among other things, and thus extends the operating time of the refrigeration machine or reduces the recharging times of the battery via the power grid. The generator output of the electrified axle is precisely matched to the requirements of the refrigeration machine and the system is fully integrated into the Schmitz Cargobull TrailerConnect® telematics, so that the respective system status, e.g. battery charge status, remaining range, remaining charging time, etc. can be monitored via the TrailerConnect® portal.

With the all-electric S.KOe COOL refrigerated box from Schmitz Cargobull, MOPRO has taken an important step towards sustainable refrigerated logistics. The company is showing itself to be innovative and future-oriented and is making a contribution to climate protection and noise reduction.
