S.CS curtainsider with TIR specification


The S.CS UNIVERSAL with TIR specification and the new generation of TARPOS® SafetyTechnology offers certified load securing in accordance with EN 12642 Code XL, simple handling, high load security and a whole range of cost-saving details for customs, driver, carrier and shipper.

  • Horstmar, April 2009 – From now on carriers of freight making use of TIR procedures or carrying general cross-border cargo within Europe will require only one vehicle - the S.CS curtainsider semitrailer with TIR specification.

    With its new S.CS UNIVERSAL and TARPOS® SafetyTechnology, the requirements of many Western European shippers are also met: from certificate EN 12462 Code XL, through to optimum availability and an environmental/economical design. And with the flexible sliding curtain trailer, load securing convenience, loading and unloading efficiency as well as optimised, flexible loading space usage are all increased.

    A cleverly devised customs seal as well as structural elements for securing the tarpaulin tensioning tubes and roof tarpaulin ensure secure TIR sealing. The multi-layer flexible curtainsider curtain supersedes the rigid - especially in the cold - PVC tarpaulin and offers, thanks to high-strength integrated woven fabric technology (12 x 12 threads / sq cm), increased tear-resistance which helps to prevent existing tears from growing. Should damage occur, the tarpaulin can be flawlessly and quickly repaired. The flexible TARPOS® tarpaulin permits quick opening directly upon arrival. Bothersome messing around with ladders and throwing over of slat boards is no longer required, thus also reducing the risk of accidents for the person doing the work. The 3-length separated roof tarpaulin construction (2x side, 1x roof) allows individual opening according to the loading situation while at the same time protecting the load against wind and weather or unauthorised access. Whether forklift or crane, roof, tail or side loading, the flexibility of the curtainsider is impressive and pays off for driver, loader and goods inwards operative.
    2,480 mm pallet width up to roof height means: unlimited loading space and maximum use of the loading volume. An optional double deck system expands the configuration options even more for even better loading space optimisation. Due to different height division of the positioning spaces, the loading space surface doubles.
    The rear, optional, screw-out corner stanchions for the rear frame and doors lend themselves to loaders who have to load bulk goods from the rear. The result is increased loading speed and avoidance of damage to the freight.

    TARPOS® SafetyTechnology

    The high strength fabric used in the TARPOS® tarpaulin with 12 x 12 threads/cm² is extremely strong, offers optional optimised theft protection and prevents wilful cutting. The sealing belt straps on the inside ensure the tarpaulin can absorb high pulling forces and also contribute, together with the stable body, to the awarding of EN 12642 code XL certification. As the tarpaulin can be pulled tight and smooth, flapping while travelling is minimised. The rear-view mirror field of vision is greatly increased and increases driving safety in road traffic. In addition, fuel consumption is reduced due to improved aerodynamics, thus also lowering emissions.

    EN 12642 Code XL load securing certification is awarded thanks to the high side and body strength. When loading is correct and form-fitting, police controls are much quicker and less complicated.
    Schmitz Cargobull offers optional steel lock rails for variable positioning of load securing beams to the front and rear when partial loads are carried.

    Optimum quality
    The proven hot-galvanized chassis that is standard with all S.CS vehicles has a very long service life and ensures a high resale price. The strength values for the TARPOS SafetyTechnology tarpaulin are worthy of only one classification: outstanding! New single-hinge doors with only one pivot point have improved hinges and optimised seals to provide longer service life and lower life-cycle costs. The low flammability tarpaulin material ensures the S.CS UNIVERSAL with TARPOS® and TIR-capability is suitable for hazardous goods transport (ADR).
