New additions to the telematics module
Truck-trailer integration, predictive maintenance and load carrier tracking
At a single glance, fleet managers are able to view telematics data from HGVs and trailers in one place – the TrailerConnect® portal. This helps to manage scheduling, optimise routes, arrange schedules and improve overall fleet efficiency. It means that capacity can be used more effectively, thus reducing operating costs. Combined telematics data offers benefits for the maintenance management of trucks and trailers. Real-time maintenance warnings help with the planning of repairs and contribute to the reduction of breakdowns and downtimes.
Predictive maintenance
Logistics providers who transport temperature-controlled freight in particular benefit from predictive maintenance. With this system, TrailerConnect® analyses both current telematics and cooling unit data and also historic maintenance and repair data using artificial intelligence. As a result, customers receive more accurate predictions about future maintenance and repair requirements. They are able to plan workshop appointments more efficiently and avoid cooling unit failures. The customer receives all information in a dashboard on the TrailerConnect® portal, from where they are able to contact their nearest service partner directly. Schmitz Cargobull is the first trailer manufacturer to offer predictive maintenance for cooling units. By integrating predictive maintenance into their Full Service agreements, Schmitz Cargobull customers can rest assured that they benefit from longer running times, longer cooling unit service lives and lower operating costs.
Load carrier tracking
For its semi-trailers, Schmitz Cargobull offers the option to have Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) receivers installed inside the body. With Bluetooth Low Energy tags, information is wirelessly transmitted to a read device. When a BLE tag is attached to a shipping container or pallet, it can provide real-time information about the location, status and transportation of the load, increasing the transparency of the supply chain. They also simplify inventory management and traceability, which reduces the risk of interruptions and delays in the supply chain. Here, the requirement is that the tags are identified by BLE receivers that are installed in trailers or warehouses. Bluetooth tags are attached to the load carrier and send their location to the TrailerConnect® portal. As a result, it is always clear where cargo, or small parts of it, is located on its journey through the supply chain.
