Schmitz Cargobull hands over their 50,000th semi-trailer in Poland to renowned logistics company Raben Transport.

EWT Truck & Trailer Polska Sp. z. o. o., an authorised general agent for Schmitz Cargobull in Poland, has maintained a collaborative partnership with Raben for many years. As one of their first customers, EWT has provided Polish Raben Group companies with 1,149 Schmitz Cargobull trailers.

Peter Schmitz returns to office

December 2017 - As part of a planned succession policy, three new members were elected to the Supervisory Board at an extraordinary Annual General Meeting (28 November 2017) of Schmitz Cargobull AG.  Peter Schmitz, Robin J. Stalker and Thomas Schwier will be taking over from Dr Kunibert Schmidt, Dr Alexander Winkels and Karl Röhricht on the Schmitz Cargobull AG Supervisory Board.

18 December 2017 – To mark Schmitz Cargobull Group’s 125th anniversary, the City of Münster has awarded a silver memorial town hall coin to Andreas Schmitz. As well as receiving the coin, the company will also be honoured with an entry into the City of Münster’s “Goldene Buch” (Golden Book).

Vreden box body plant secures overall win
Manufacturing Excellence Award 2017

Schmitz Cargobull’s box body production plant in Vreden has been named as the overall winner of the renowned Manufacturing Excellence Award 2017. “This prize is an incredible recognition for our entire team,” said Michael Timmermann/head of the Schmitz Cargobull production plant in Vreden in response to the win.

Double victory: SmartTrailer and Transformers Trailer impress with sustainable concepts

December 2017 – Schmitz Cargobull has secured not one but two awards in the European Transport Prize for Sustainability. The SmartTrailer plus Trailer Telematics System TrailerConnect and the Transformers Trailer with Recuperation impressed the jury in the Telematics systems and Bodies/trailers categories.

Start-up KUBIKx brings the transport industry into the digital age

While everyone is talking about digitalisation, the trailer manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull is taking action: The commercial vehicle manufacturer is setting up the start-up KUBIKx with the aim of digitalising fleet management, transport and logistic processes.

1,000,000th axle manufactured
The 1,000,000th axle rolled off the assembly line at Schmitz Cargobull’s production facility in Altenberge at the end of September 2017. This reflects the success of the ROTOS running gear among customers. Schmitz Cargobull developed and produces the unit entirely in-house.

October, 2017 - Schmitz Cargobull has yet another reason to celebrate in its 125th anniversary year: the 1,000,000th axle has been manufactured at its production facility in Altenberge. These axle units have been used exclusively on the company’s own vehicles since production commenced in 2004.

October 2017 – The market leader, Schmitz Cargobull, continues to expand its position in both Europe and worldwide: “We produced 57,982 trailers, a good 10,000 more than planned,” reports Chief Executive Officer, Andreas Schmitz, when presenting the figures for the 2016/2017 business year.

October 2017 – At the beginning of October Schmitz Cargobull celebrated the official opening of its new production plant in Adapazari, Turkey. The multi-production plant (MPP) will be used to assemble both curtainsiders and box bodies. Plans are also in place to add another assembly line for tipper trailers.

Horstmar, July 2017 – The Supervisory Board of Schmitz Cargobull AG has extended the board member contracts for Andreas Busacker (Finances) and Andreas Klein (Operations) ahead of time by a further five years. Both have served on the company’s Management Board since 2015. “Andreas Busacker and Andreas Klein have both proven themselves to be absolute professionals in their respective fields,” says Prof. Jürgen Kluge, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Schmitz Cargobull AG. “That is why we are pleased to extend both of the contracts ahead of time and safeguard the long-term continuity within the management.”

Horstmar, 8 March 2017 – At the presentation unveiling bodies for light commercial vehicles (VAN BODIES), CEO Andreas Schmitz provided a brief overview of Schmitz Cargobull's upcoming annual financial statements. According to his summary, the demand for commercial vehicles in Central and Western Europe continues to grow strongly. In the current business year 2016/2017 (from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017) Schmitz Cargobull AG, as Europe's largest trailer and body manufacturer, expects an increase in production to around 56,000 trailers (2015/2016 business year: 49,948 units).

On their visit to the production plant in Altenberge with Boris Billich (Member of the Board at Schmitz Cargobull AG), Josef Warmeling (Head of International Key Account Management at Schmitz Cargobull AG) and Gregor Rein (Managing Director of Schmitz Cargobull Denmark A/S), they were impressed by the constant improvement of the products and production processes.
