October 2018 – Schmitz Cargobull has extended its portfolio of self-developed refrigeration units by a new electrically driven unit that is manufactured for swap boxes on a user and project-related basis. This operates completely emission-free and is specially designed for use in distribution transport.
Hanover, 24.09.2018 --- Schmitz Cargobull and the BPW Group announce a strategic cooperation in the field of telematics at the IAA Commercial Vehicles: In future, data can be exchanged between the "cargofleet3" telematics system of BPW subsidiary idem telematics and the new Schmitz Cargobull TrailerConnect portal via a common interface.

The factory, which is the brand’s centre of expertise for box semi-trailers, will soon be home to a digital and automated plant, which combines top-class customisation at familiar high standards of quality and minimal n production costs.

Schmitz Cargobull AG’s Romanian subsidiary has appointed Roland W. Schacht to the Board of Management. As the new Managing Director, the experienced automotive manager is now in charge of Schmitz Cargobull operations and sales in Romania, Greece, Cyprus and the Republic of Moldova.
March 2018 - Andreas Klein, Chief Operations Officer since January 2015, is set to leave Schmitz Cargobull AG. The mechanical engineering graduate’s seat on the company's Supervisory Board was terminated by mutual agreement in March 2018.

January 2018 – The energy-efficient Transformers Trailer has been proven to reduce CO2 emissions by 15% in comparison with a conventional trailer. The complete project including all corresponding measures on the trailer can even bring about a reduction in CO2 emissions of up to around 25%.
