New solutions for refrigerated transport
Greater efficiency in long-haul transport with digital transport expertise – the new Schmitz Cargobull S.KO COOL reefer semi-trailer

September 2018 – The S.KO COOL reefer semi-trailer will be presented in a new form at this year’s IAA Commercial Vehicles Show. With the complete solution consisting of the enhanced refrigerated box body, the new S.CU refrigeration unit and the telematics system, transport companies receive an optimised complete package for refrigerated logistics.

Visually it's easy to see that a new S.KO COOL generation is about to make its début. It has been developed further, tidied up and given a distinctive new look. The front section has had a complete face lift. The protected area of the bulkhead has been extended further upwards, so as to avoid damage during coupling. Furthermore, the insulation capacity of the bulkhead has been increased further through the optimisation of many details. The new side guard is the most telling sign that another generational change has taken place.

New Schmitz Cargobull S.CU transport refrigeration unit

Another new feature is the in-house refrigeration unit, the S.CU, which is equipped with the latest common rail diesel motor. The new refrigeration unit generation offers the same high cooling performance and precise temperature management, but reduces fuel consumption by up to 10%. The weight has also been reduced by 50 kg. The S.CU refrigeration unit complies with the Stage V emission standard, which comes into force in January 2019. This significantly reduces the environmental impact. Through the optimum interface design of refrigeration unit and improved air circulation, operators can achieve even more consistent temperature distribution in the cargo area. Thanks to the new display design, the large digits make it easy to read and improve its user-friendliness. As an alternative to the display, all functions of the S.CS and telematics system can be controlled via a smartphone. In the TCO (total cost of ownership) calculation the refrigeration unit is a critical factor.

Robust and safe – the new Schmitz Cargobull multifunction floor

The newly designed multifunction floor boasts a non-slip surface and has a long service life. Integrated profile rails enable flexible load securing in the trailer interior, regardless of where the load has to be secured. In addition, should water penetrate into the body, the floor distributes the water evenly, which means that there is less risk of the floor icing up.

Dynamic ramp protection (DRP)

In the new 3.0 version, the conical roller bumpers cushion the impact with the ramp continuously and more gently. Nearly 60 kg of weight could be saved, which has a positive effect on the payload potential. The modular rear body enables individual parts to be retrofitted where necessary. This reduces both downtime and costs in the event of repairs.

Telematics – TrailerConnect fitted as standard

Whether controlling the temperature of sensitive goods or determining the trailer position, the Schmitz Cargobull TrailerConnect telematics system enables continuous logging in real time over many years. The data can always be quickly accessed in the TrailerConnect portal. Proactive fault messages prevent downtimes: Whether it’s a problem with the refrigeration unit, tyres or door locking system: the solution serves to avoid breakdowns and enables the proactive planning of workshop visits. The multiple award-winning system is fully networked and all components are of the customary Schmitz Cargobull quality.
