Schmitz Cargobull Telematics receives the German Telematics Prize 2016, winning the award in the Telematics for Trailers category

Berlin/Horstmar, 06.10.2015 - Karl-Heinz Neu, the Managing Director of Schmitz Cargobull Telematics, accepted the award for the company's own TrailerConnect trailer telematics system at the Commercial Vehicles Future Congress. Every two years, Carsten Nallinger, editor-in-chief of the TeleTraffic trade publication from the ETM-Verlag publishing house, calls for submissions for this award in six categories. The renowned Prof. Heinz-Leo Dudek, who holds a professorship at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University, is the impartial judge for the transport and logistics industry. As Prof. Dudek explained, all of the telematics solutions submitted were tested comprehensively and evaluated from the end-users' perspective.

The evaluation carried out by the specialists at the university's testing laboratories assessed the ‘usability’, namely the experience of using the system under practical conditions, its technical features, the quality of the hardware and also how easy it is for a user to familiarise themselves with the functions, along with the future-oriented connection to other platforms serve as the evaluation standards¬. All of the manufacturers' promises regarding performance were recorded and tested to determine whether they are actually fulfilled. Given the quality of this evaluation, the award is held in high regard by freight carriers and logistics companies, and is taken into consideration for both the procurement and when assessing future usage, too. The evaluation also demonstrated the reliability of the support, as well as future development possibilities.

When asked about the benefits of the TrailerConnect solution, Karl-Heinz Neu, said, "Our trailer telematics enable adaptations customised to the specific needs of freight carriers, and also logistics companies. More than 32,000 trailer telematics systems from Schmitz Cargobull Telematics have been sold and there are more than 23,000 active units on Europe's roads. This highlights the professional hardware, along with the high availability and the reliability of the software. This is supplemented by our consulting expertise, which enables tailored and, above all, practical solutions. As such, winning the award also confirms that our customers have made the right decision."
