Lightweight with a strong body

June 2019 – Maximum use of a trailer’s payload plays a key role in the international transport industry. To achieve this, transport companies need trailers with loading areas that can be used efficiently for a wide range of freight. Schmitz Cargobull has created the ideal trailer solution with the new S.CS UNIVERSAL X-LIGHT curtainsider semi-trailer. The lightweight trailer from 4,975 kg is the most efficient transport solution for heavy, interlocked bulk goods with a high loading frequency. 

To increase the payload even more when compared to the predecessor, a new floor concept has been developed for the new X-LIGHT, and suitable aluminium components have be incorporated into the chassis and body. Without compromising on the chassis’ strength, the unladen weight has been decreased to under 5 tonnes. The chassis neck height has also been decreased by 30 mm to 150 mm in comparison with its predecessor. This increases the available loading volume inside the trailer.

Thanks to the modularity of the body types, the UNIVERSAL X-LIGHT curtainsider semi-trailer can be used flexibly. Combining this module with the POWER CURTAIN body is particularly efficient, increasing the payload and helping to ensure quick and safe loading and unloading. Since no laths are needed in the body, normal loading and unloading is even quicker while climbing around to the load securing equipment is now a thing of the past. For load securing at the rear, there are load securing loops in the tarpaulin. A wide array of options for partial loads are also available. The body of the S.CS UNIVERSAL X-LIGHT curtainsider is certified to DIN EN 12642 Code XL as well as for beverage transport and in line with DL Directive 9.5.
