Efficient air distribution systems reduce energy demand
Fresh(er) air
More efficiency, uniformity and robustness is the premise behind the further development of the air distribution system in the S.KO COOL SMART refrigerated semi-trailer box by Schmitz Cargobull’s product experts. The primary objective of the additional improvements is the avoidance of ‘heat pockets’ as well as simplified handling for more efficiency in everyday transport.
Hoods made of flexible and collision-resistant material ensure the connection between the refrigeration unit and the air duct and protect against collision damage thanks to their flexibility. The air flow and air circulation in the trailer are optimised by a targeted guidance of primary and secondary flows in the air ducts. The air ducts have a widened cross-section and the air is specifically guided to the rear and back to the front by the optimal arrangement of the ducts. Due to the uniform air flow throughout the entire structure, goods are always reliably tempered. Return air barriers above and to the sides of the circulation wall prevent the mixing of hot and cold air and help to ensure the optimised air circulation. Schmitz Cargobull only offers the installation of the hood for its own S.CU refrigeration unit in flexible design – other makes receive a steel hood. Handling has also been made more efficient with the new air distribution system.
For multi-temp transports, the partition can be set without an additional work step. The air ducts are effectively sealed by the partition wall and the air distribution takes place automatically only in the front area up to the partition wall. Due to the innovative mounting of the air ducts with quickly detachable connections, they are easy and hygienic to clean. Reliability has been officially confirmed for the new air distribution system: The test procedure for uniform air distribution when loaded has been certified by DEKRA. Reliable and efficient load securing is also guaranteed. The vertical load securing beams can be quickly and easily positioned between the air channels to secure the goods.
