Schmitz Cargobull receives "German Award for Sustainability Projects 2026"
The electric power take-off (ePTO) ready refrigeration unit impressed the judges with its ability to be operated electrically via the power take-off from an electric semi-trailer tractor unit, helping deliver emission-free temperature-controlled transport. Thomas Wissing de Freitas, Sustainability Manager at Schmitz Cargobull, accepted the accolade at the official award ceremony on 17 September in Berlin.
"We want to advance the decarbonisation of temperature-controlled transport with solutions that work easily and are economical in our customers' everyday lives. With the S.CU ePTO ready chillers, transport companies can already significantly reduce their emissions today. The technology makes the gradual transition to electrified transport chains possible, and we are pleased that the award honours this," says Wissing de Freitas.
First place in the category mobility and logistics solutions
Run by The German Institute for Service Quality, the DUP Entrepreneur Magazine and news channel ntv, the annual awards honour specific corporate, scientific, and social initiatives that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Projects from all sectors of the economy were honoured at the ceremony under the patronage of Brigitte Zypries, former Federal Minister of Justice and Federal Minister of Economics for Germany. 433 companies or their projects were nominated, and the best projects in 19 categories convinced the top-class jury. The jury analysed the submitted sustainability projects regarding economic and ecological goals such as raw material efficiency, recycling and nature conservation, but also social goals such as education, health and equal opportunities.
