Schmitz Cargobull receives "International Trailer Award 2027" for flexible multi-temperature solution for distribution transport

S.KO CITY refrigerated semi-trailer box with new transport refrigeration unit S.CU mt-DualEvap enables the flexible transport of goods in different temperature zones at full interior height and convinces the international jury of experts

September 2026 – Schmitz Cargobull has been awarded the prestigious International Trailer Award 2027 in the "Body" category. The international jury of experts awarded the prize to the S.KO CITY refrigerated semi-trailer box in combination with the mt-DualEvap transport refrigeration S.CU unit, the solution developed specifically for the requirements of urban food and distribution transport. With 86.5 points, the system achieved the highest rating and successfully prevailed against numerous international competitors.

"The award confirms that we incorporate the requirements that our customers have to solve in daily practice into our product development and bring innovative and practical transport solutions to the market," says Andreas Schmitz, CEO of Schmitz Cargobull. "With the S.KO CITY and the S.CU mt-DualEvap, we offer a solution that makes temperature-controlled distribution transport more flexible and economical. My special thanks go to the teams that developed this solution and successfully brought it into production."

Flexible transport for different goods

The compact and particularly manoeuvrable S.KO CITY, in conjunction with the S.CU mt-DualEvap, enables the flexible transport of different goods with different temperature requirements in one vehicle. This is made possible by two separately temperature-controlled longitudinal areas that can be adapted to changing routes and different loading volumes. The solution thus supports freight forwarders and logistics companies in making distribution transports more efficient and optimising the utilisation of their vehicles.

A key feature of the S.CU mt-DualEvap is its integrated evaporator concept. Since no additional ceiling evaporator is required, the full interior height of the trailer is retained and the available cargo space can be used without restrictions. At the same time, the system ensures reliable temperature control even in demanding distribution transports with frequent door openings and numerous loading and unloading processes. The combination of flexibly controllable temperature ranges, efficient air flow and fully usable cargo space convinced the jury.

The International Trailer Award is presented every two years by the trade magazine Truck & Trailer Welt together with a European jury of experts. Outstanding innovations in the international trailer and body industry are honoured in several categories.
