Schmitz Cargobull closes facility in Berlin

Production of V.KO Van Bodies is discontinued
The Schmitz Cargobull product range

January 2019 – Schmitz Cargobull AG has decided to shut down V.KO Van Bodies

production in Berlin, to close the Berlin site and to enter into negotiations on a

reconciliation of interests.

Production of V.KO Van Bodies is discontinued

With the expansion of its product portfolio in the van segment from three to six tonnes, Schmitz Cargobull has developed and launched an innovative product and van body concept. The quality of the van body kits was convincing, but in the highly competitive environment of van bodies, production in the current set-up is not economically efficient in the long term. Therfore Schmitz Cargobull has decided to cease the production of the V.KO DRY and close the Berlin site. For the V.KO COOL, the response after the presentation at the IAA 2018 was very good, so that the strategic positioning in this area is being xamined.

Until the closure of the Berlin site, the orders already received and confirmed will of course be fulfilled and the V.KO kits delivered to the customers in accordance with the respective agreements within the next few weeks. However, new orders will no longer be taken. In the event of repairs to V.KO superstructures, Schmitz Cargobull ensures spare parts and appropriate solutions via its network.
