German Sustainability Award 2025

Schmitz Cargobull received an award in the “Mobility and Logistics” category for the automotive industry – one of the most prestigious awards for sustainable companies.

Successful emissions reduction

Scope 1 & 2: 70% reduction compared to the base year 2021/22

Climate targets: Validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), with the goal of net-zero emissions by 2045.

Production innovation: Fully electric refrigerated trailer S.KOe COOL

Production-ready, type-approved refrigerated trailer for emission-free refrigerated transport.

Expansion of renewable energies

Installation of 755 kWp at several locations, with a further 1,500 kWp in planning.

At Schmitz Cargobull, we see sustainability as a strategic responsibility. The ESG principles – Environmental, Social, and Governance – are our compass:

E for climate protection, resource conservation, and circular economy
S for safe working conditions, human rights, and fair supply chains
G for integrity, transparency, and compliance

With ambitious goals, innovative products, and clear standards, we create added value for customers, employees, and society. Our current Sustainability Report 24/25 shows how we translate ESG into concrete measures.
Net-Zero-Targets

Our path to net zero

Climate protection is a key objective of our sustainability strategy. Schmitz Cargobull is committed to reducing Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90 % by 2029/30 and achieving net-zero emissions along the entire value chain by 2044/45. Our climate targets are scientifically based and validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

With measures such as renewable energies, energy efficiency, eco-design and innovative transport solutions, we are shaping the transition to climate-neutral logistics. Our focus is particularly on reducing emissions along the cold chain. In the 2024/25 financial year, 25 % of our energy consumption already came from renewable sources. We are continuously reducing our carbon footprint through the use of photovoltaics, heat pumps, LED technology and certified green electricity. Energy intensity per unit produced is 1.95 MWh and is being further optimised through digitalisation and smart factory concepts.
