Solutions for controlled data management

Transparency in the supply chain with full data control through the TrailerConnect® Data Management Center - Monitor and evaluate tours professionally via TrailerConnect® TourTrack
May 2023 – Real-time transportation visibility platforms (RTVP) are changing the logistics industry. With their wide array of options for data recording, connectivity and information exchange, they are a major driving force in the logistics’ sector’s digital transformation. Transport companies also benefit from the new level of transparency created by these digital platforms. They are able to plan routes better, make more efficient use of capacity, deploy drivers more effectively and provide their customers with more information thanks to real-time data about the location and status of their cargo. Butthe uncontrolled sharing of individual transport data can present a huge business risk if the entire network of partners and sub-contractors is revealed. For transport companies, the option to selectively manage the data-sharing process and only pass on route-relevant data is important to their business survival in the new environment of digital platforms.

Transparency with full data control

With the TrailerConnect® Data Management Center, Schmitz Cargobull offers hauliers a digital connectivity solution that is tailored to their requirements. The platform provides an easy method for connecting various members of the supply chain and sharing information in a controlled and secure manner for increased transparency in the supply chain.
The benefits of the TrailerConnect® Data Management Center for haulage companies are clear. It is ready for use immediately without any IT work, with easy connectivity as it has the interfaces needed for most common real-time visibility platforms and telematics systems. And new interfaces are being added all the time. With individual configurations for the exchange of transport data for each and every tour, the user has full data control. They can manage the data release process themselves, keeping full sovereignty over their data. This means full protection for the customer’s business and logistics network. Sensitive business data regarding the haulier’s own network and the sub-contractors involved is not revealed. All trailer and transport data is protected in accordance with GDPR and can be accessed from one place for the entire fleet. The dispatcher is able to access all information in real-time, plan routes with precision and respond quickly to changes in the workflow.

TrailerConnect® TourTrack
TrailerConnect® TourTrack comes into play once all data along the supply chain is connected. With the TourTrack service, forwarders can monitor their journeys and transport orders and evaluate their business in a professional manner with just a few clicks. In the TrailerConnect® portal, individual tours can be imported quickly and easily from transport management systems or created manually so that they can be monitored in real time or so that trailer information can be easily shared with third parties via a link (Track&Trace). As a result, dispatchers and shippers can receive important information on location and temperature data along with arrival times. Unplanned deviations become immediately visible, delays can be analysed and key temperature data can be sent to the unloading point at the right time. This ensures that only selected data is shared with the shipper’s real-time visibility platforms (RTVP) on a tour basis. It means that transport companies are able to retain control over their data and still offer their customers maximum transparency.
