Cargobull Trailer Diagnostics accelerates diagnostic and repair processes

Cargobull Trailer Diagnostics accelerates diagnostic and repair processes

Faster diagnostic processes, shorter workshop visits and higher vehicle availability
September 2026 – With Cargobull Trailer Diagnostics, Schmitz Cargobull is introducing new diagnostic software that supports service partners in troubleshooting and repairing Schmitz Cargobull trailers and transport refrigeration units. The integrated platform enables the vehicle to be diagnosed via a central application. Guided troubleshooting, a modern user interface, and transparency of fault codes facilitate diagnosis and can shorten repair times. As a result, faults are rectified quickly, workshop times are reduced, and vehicle availability is increased. Cargobull Trailer Diagnostics is an integral part of the Cargobull Operating System (COS) and delivers direct added value through faster processes, higher uptime and lower service costs.

Enables a comprehensive diagnosis of the entire vehicle

Integrated system landscape meets SUMS specifications, creates transparency and reduces manual effort
The Software Update Management System (SUMS) is a regulatory requirement for vehicle manufacturers. Schmitz Cargobull meets these requirements with an integrated infrastructure for the management of trailer and refrigeration unit software. Even before the regulatory introduction of SUMS, Schmitz Cargobull was structuring, managing and continuously developing software updates. Integration into the COS connects trailer, service and digital processes in a future-proof system landscape. Customers can view the current software status at any time in the TrailerConnect portal. For the customer, this means maximum security with minimum effort.

More intuitive diagnostics, proactive maintenance and guided service processes
Cargobull Trailer Diagnostics significantly expands the existing range of functions. In addition to the classic error readout, automated notifications of upcoming software updates are now available. System-supported troubleshooting, illustrated step-by-step instructions for selected complex fault codes, and guided diagnostic processes make everyday service noticeably easier. Clear instructions support service partners in installing software updates and digital services efficiently and securely. The information required for this is clearly compiled on a user-friendly interface. Compared to the previous diagnostic software, Cargobull Trailer Diagnostics actively guides users through every phase of the service process.

Over-the-air updates – fewer workshop visits
Every Schmitz Cargobull trailer is already equipped with the TrailerConnect® trailer telematics system ex works. This offers the possibility of completing certain equipment-relevant software updates directly "over-the-air", allowing individual software components to be updated without a workshop appointment. This saves customers and workshops alike time and increases the availability of the vehicles.

Advantages in service and operation
For service partners, Cargobull Trailer Diagnostics means more safety, more overview and more support in the update and diagnostic process. The guided processes help to eliminate errors, avoid misconfigurations and ensure consistent process quality. Fleet operators benefit from a higher operational readiness of the vehicles. The software remains up-to-date over the vehicle's service life, changes are documented in a comprehensible manner, and the system architecture corresponds to the current state of digital vehicle technology. This creates transparency, notification security and contributes to efficient service processes for lower, calculable total cost of ownership for the customer.
